Overview

ManageXR can now start Device Screen Streaming silently on many headsets—without showing Android’s built‑in “Allow screen capture?” dialog.  The default behavior for ManageXR devices is to skip the prompt, meaning devices should start streaming without the in-headset dialog appearing.

Requirements

To skip the screen streaming in-headset prompt, you must be (a) using ManageXR Admin App version v1.7.86 or above, or (b) have manually granted permission on your device with the Device Setup Tool

How to turn on the in-headset casting prompt

By default, devices will skip the “Allow screen capture?” dialog. As long as devices meet the above requirements, no further action is required to skip the in-headset prompt.

If you enable this setting, devices will need to accept a prompt in the headset when a streaming request is made. Please follow these instructions if you prefer to require users to manually grant streaming permission.

  1. Go to your Configuration

  2. Select Device Settings

  3. Under Security Settings, toggle Require Streaming Permission Prompt ON

  4. Save Changes

(Troubleshooting) Manually granting skip streaming permission

When a device is on an Admin App version compatible with skipping the streaming prompt, you should see a check mark next to Skip Streaming Prompt Permission on your Device Information page:

If you see an X for this permission, you can grant the permission manually via the Device Setup Tool:

  1. Download the ManageXR Device Setup Tool - must use version 2.0.14 or above

  2. Sign in

  3. Plug in your device

  4. Enable USB Debugging in-headset

  5. Click on the "..." menu

  6. Choose Allow Skip Streaming Prompt (it may be lower in the list)

FAQs and Troubleshooting

I keep getting an immediate permission denied error

There is currently a Meta bug causing streams to immediately fail and show permission denied, regardless of this setting. We are working with Meta to resolve this issue and expect it to be fixed in a later firmware version. Reach out to support@managexr.com for more information.

I am still getting the prompt even though setting is turned off on my configuration

  1. Confirm your device is on ManageXR Admin App v1.7.86 or above

    1. Go to the device page > Current Configuration tab

    2. Scroll down to ManageXR Apps

    3. Identify the ManageXR Admin App version

    4. Confirm it is 1.7.86 or above

    5. If below, bring the device online and sync so that it can update its admin app version. Then, try again
