Overview

ManageXR can now start Device Screen Streaming silently on many headsets—without showing Android’s built‑in “Allow screen capture?” dialog. When the underlying permission is present, the stream begins immediately; when it isn’t, users will instead see ManageXR’s familiar in‑headset prompt.

This document explains what you will see in the product, which headsets qualify for streaming without a permission prompt, and how to recognize and enable the capability on your fleet.

Requirements

To skip the screen streaming in-headset prompt, you must be (a) using ManageXR Admin App version v1.7.86 or above (how to check?), or (b) have manually granted permission on your device with the Device Setup Tool

How to turn off streaming/casting prompt

  1. Go to your Configuration

  2. Select Device Settings

  3. Under Security Settings toggle Skip Stream Permission Prompt ON

  4. Save Changes

When the requirements above are met and this option is selected, streams will no longer require an in-headset prompt to start a screen stream. Instead, it will start automatically!

(Troubleshooting) Manually granting skip streaming permission

Devices using the latest ManageXR Admin App (v1.7.86 or above) will enable you to control the streaming permission prompt with the configuration setting, as described above.

When a device is on an Admin App version compatible with skipping the streaming prompt, you should see a check mark next to Skip Streaming Prompt Permission on your Device Information page:

If you see an X for this permission, you can grant the permission manually via the Device Setup Tool:

  1. Download the ManageXR Device Setup Tool - must use version 2.0.14 or above

  2. Sign in

  3. Plug in your device

  4. Enable USB Debugging in-headset

  5. Click on the "..." menu

  6. Choose Allow Skip Streaming Prompt (it may be lower in the list)

FAQs and Troubleshooting

I keep getting an immediate permission denied error

There is currently a Meta bug causing streams to immediately fail and show permission denied, regardless of this setting. We are working with Meta to resolve this issue and expect it to be fixed in a later firmware version. Reach out to support@managexr.com for more information.

I am still getting the prompt when I turn it off on my configuration

  1. Confirm your device is on ManageXR Admin App v1.7.86 or above

    1. Go to the device page > Current Configuration tab

    2. Scroll down to ManageXR Apps

    3. Identify the ManageXR Admin App version

    4. Confirm it is 1.7.86 or above

    5. If below, bring the device online and sync so that it can update its admin app version. Then, try again
