FAQs

What is the recommended Wi-Fi speed for casting?

ManageXR casting has not yet formally defined a minimum speed requirement, but based on internal testing, stream quality noticeably degrades below 25 Mbps. For the best experience, we recommend ensuring your device has at least 25 Mbps of available bandwidth on its Wi-Fi connection.

I don’t see the option to cast with managexr.com/casting in-headset

  • Your device may not support casting this way. ManageXR casting on Meta devices requires firmware v68 or higher. If you are using a lower firmware version, you can use our legacy casting tool at casting.managexr.com

  • Make sure you are launching ManageXR Casting from the Settings Toolbar inside your ManageXR Custom Home or Shortcut Menu. Opening the native casting menu from your device’s native settings will not provide the option to use ManageXR casting.

What's the difference between ManageXR Casting and native Meta/Pico casting?

ManageXR Casting uses WebRTC relayed through ManageXR's servers, so your headset and viewer don't need to be on the same network. Native Meta and Pico casting are peer-to-peer over the local network, which is why they require both devices on the same Wi-Fi and often fail on enterprise or education networks. If you're having issues with managexr.com/casting, run this Network Connectivity Test to see if any ManageXR endpoints are blocked. If your network does have blocked endpoints, give this list of ManageXR endpoints to your network team. They will need to add these endpoints to their "allow-list".

How do I remove the extra user permission prompt?

After entering your 6-digit code at managexr.com/casting, the user will be asked to confirm a screen-sharing permission.

To disable this prompt:

  1. Go to Configuration > Device Settings

  2. Toggle on Skip Screen Stream Permission Prompt

⚠️ Note: This will also remove the prompt when admins remotely stream devices from the ManageXR Web Console.

Do my computer and device need to be on the same network?

No. Your computer and device can use different wi-fi networks.

Can multiple people view the same headset's stream at the same time?

No. A given device can only stream to one computer at a time. If you're already casting a headset to your computer and a colleague in another location tries to view that same headset from their own computer (by entering the same 6-digit code at managexr.com/casting, or by clicking Stream on the device profile in the ManageXR Web Console), their connection will fail. This applies to both managexr.com/casting and Device Screen Streaming, regardless of whether the two computers are on the same network or different networks.

If you need multiple people to see what's happening in a headset simultaneously, the person actively casting can share their computer screen through a video conferencing tool like Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.

Is there a limit to how many devices I can cast at once to my computer?

There is no fixed limit to how many devices you can cast at once. However, performance will start to degrade due to wi-fi network limitations once you add many devices. When the degradation starts depends on the network.

Is there a limit to how many devices in my ManageXR account can be casting at once?

No. Users in your ManageXR organization cast as many devices at a time as you'd like (subject only to wi-fi network constraints). That said, a given device can only be casting to one computer at a time. So, Admins in two different places using two different computers cannot simultaneously cast a device.

If the client shares the 6-digit code from their location, will I be able to cast their VR device to my laptop from a different location?

Yes!
