While ManageXR is generally built for our officially supported XR devices, you can install our MDM on most Android devices, including Samsung tablets, Google Pixel phones, and other less-common Android-based XR devices. Not all of our XR features are supported on these types of devices, but core Android device management features like app deployment, wifi configuration, and device status tracking typically work out of the box.

Before you can enroll your Android device using our Device Setup Tool, you will need to ensure 1) Developer Mode is enabled, and 2) there are no User/Google Accounts on the device.

Each Android device will have slightly different ways to accomplish these 2 steps. Search the exact steps online for your specific model, or follow these guidelines below:

Enable Developer Mode

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Scroll to About phone or About tablet.

  3. Find Build number.

  4. Tap Build number rapidly about seven times until you see a message confirming Developer Mode is enabled.

  5. Return to the main Settings screen.

With Developer Mode on, you should also ensure USB Debugging is enabled:

  1. In Settings, open Developer options (usually near the bottom or under System or General Management).

  2. Toggle USB debugging ON.

  3. Confirm on the prompt if shown.

Your device is now in Developer Mode with USB Debugging ready.

Remove All User Accounts

For Android devices with Google Mobile Services (GMS), all accounts must be removed before granting device owner.

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Navigate to Accounts, Passwords and Accounts, or similar.

  3. Tap each listed account.

  4. Tap Remove account and confirm.

These accounts can be added back once your device has been registered on ManageXR.

If removing accounts is not possible or remains linked, consider performing a factory reset to start with a clean device.

Your device is now ready to be registered on ManageXR!
