Meta Quest Tips

For most WebXR links, you'll be using the Oculus Browser.

Launching Traditional WebXR Links

When launching traditional WebXR links like BrushWorkVR for the first time, you may be prompted to select a default method for opening these types of links. If so, select Oculus Browser; otherwise, the link will be automatically launched via Oculus Browser.

Launching YouTube VR Links

Another common type of WebXR link you may launch is YouTube content. To launch all 360 video YouTube content directly in YouTube VR:

  • Install Youtube VR on your device

⚠️YouTube VR must first be installed on your device before you can launch WebXR links using Youtube VR. Learn how to temporarily exit ManageXR in order to install YouTube VR. YouTube VR does not need to be added to your ManageXR Home Screen in order to launch these links.

  • Click on a YouTube VR link in-headset

  • When presented with this menu, click Set to always open.

  • You'll then see a screen that looks like this.

  • The default for these links with be set to Ask every time. We need to change this. Click on Ask every time, and a menu will appear.

  • Click Open in this app.

That's it! Now, when you launch subsequent YouTube VR links, you will be sent straight into the video without interruption.

⚠️ As of now, the only way to reset these preferences is to factory reset your device. This is a Meta restriction that is subject to change and cannot be controlled directly by ManageXR.

Launching Sketchfab WebXR Links

When launching Sketchfab links for the first time, you may be prompted to choose a default method for opening these types of links.

When presented with this menu:

  • Click Oculus Browser

  • Select Always

  • Re-launch the WebXR link from the ManageXR Home Screen

When you launch subsequent Sketchfab links, you will be sent straight into the video without interruption.

Once in the browser, you will see the video playing on a 2D panel. In order to enter VR mode:

  • Click the View in VR button in the bottom right

  • After clicking, you will be prompted with a message that says Allow Sketchfab to open an immersive experience? Select Allow

Troubleshooting

If a WebXR link isn't working as intended:

  • Exit and re-launch from the ManageXR Home Screen

  • Reboot your headset

  • Copy and paste the link on a computer browser to see if it's a valid link
