ManageXR's device location is powered by IPstack and MaxMind. Furthermore, Meta Quest devices with firmware version 57 and above support the Android Location Manager API, which allows for more accurate location reporting.

In some cases, organizations may use a VPN or Proxy Server to mask the IP address of connected devices by rerouting their network traffic through an intermediary server. This server typically uses a different IP address to disguise the user's actual IP address, which can affect the device's reported location. Therefore, if the network you're connected to uses a VPN or Proxy Server, the reported location might differ from the device's physical location.

Important: IP geolocation tracking is not perfect. According to iplocation.net, the accuracy of the geolocation database varies:

  • Country: 95% to 99% accuracy

  • Region (State): 55% to 80% accuracy

  • City: 50% to 75% accuracy

Devices can misreport their location, even when connected to a network that does not use proxy servers or a VPN.
