Device alerts are designed to surface critical details about issues affecting your VR device fleet. These alerts can be found on the dashboard and the device detail page. Network issues can be particularly disruptive to your VR deployment, and it can be challenging to identify precisely what’s happening. Device alerts will help you distinguish between issues like blocked endpoints, weak networks, and intermittent connectivity so that you can resolve them more efficiently.

List of Device Alerts
Below is a list of all possible device alerts and what they mean.
Device Alert | Explanation |
App Install Error | The application failed to install. There are various reasons why this could happen, including: - Attempts to downgrade to a lower version - App package signature issues - Network issues - Forbidden file location of Bundled Files |
Video Install Error | The video failed to install. This is usually due to a network issue or an interrupted download. The device will retry the next time it syncs with ManageXR. |
File Install Error | The file failed to install. There are a few reasons why this could happen: - Missing permissions / Forbidden file location (attempt to deploy a file to a folder that ManageXR cannot access, such as the Android/data folder on Quest devices) - Network issues |
Firmware Install Error | The firmware version failed to install. This is typically because the installed version on the device is higher than the version the user attempted to install. It's not possible to downgrade firmware. |
Low Battery | The headset battery is at 30% or less |
Low Storage | Device storage at 1GB or less. |
Network Error | The device cannot properly communicate with ManageXR due to one or more blocked endpoints. |
Network Issue | The network connection is unstable. This is usually because the network dropped requests, connection to the device, or both. |
Setup Incomplete | The device has never synced with ManageXR and cannot receive remote updates. It likely needs to be manually connected to a Wi-Fi network. |
Forbidden File Location | The configuration applied to this device attempts to deploy files to a forbidden location (the Android/data folder). ManageXR and other third parties do not have permission to deploy files to Android/data subfolders on devices running Android 12+ operating systems. |
Missing Permissions | This is the same as the Forbidden File Location alert, except this error appears in the individual files. |
App Expiration alert | The app has expired or will be expiring. |
Troubleshooting
Network Error
The Network Error indicates that endpoints must be unblocked on the device's network. The list of endpoints that must be whitelisted on a device's network can be found in the Network Requirements article.
App Install Error
One of the reasons an app may fail to install is because the app package signatures don’t match. In these instances, the following error message will appear:
Please refer to the documentation for options on how to resolve this error: App Signatures Do Not Match
