With ManageXR, you can deploy apps you've saved from the Meta Horizon Managed App Store (aka "Discover Apps" on Horizon managed services) in bulk. In this doc, we cover how to save Horizon Managed Store apps on Meta Horizon managed services and how to add them to ManageXR for distribution.

The Horizon Managed App Store is a library of 500+ free to download apps that developers have chosen to make available for businesses and schools.

Accessing the Horizon Managed App Store

  1. Sign in to your Meta Horizon managed services account

  2. Click the export button in the top right corner to export your CSV of apps

  3. Return to ManageXR

FAQs

Can I deploy store apps from Horizon managed services to legacy Meta devices?

Not through HMS. Your Meta devices must either be enrolled through Meta Horizon managed services or migrated to HMS using our low-touch migrate command in order to be able to receive store apps from the Horizon Managed App Store.

However, Legacy Meta devices can still exit kiosk mode to download apps from the consumer store manually and use them as external apps.

Can I install paid Meta Store apps on devices in Shared Mode?

No. Meta does not currently support purchasing or installing paid apps through the Horizon Managed App Store, which is required for Shared Mode devices. There is no timeline for when this will be supported.

Paid apps can only be purchased and downloaded directly in-headset while the device is in Individual Mode.

Workaround:
If your deployment requires paid store content, we recommend dedicating a separate group of devices to Individual Mode with full store access. You can still maintain structured, focused experiences by using ManageXR Rooms to control sessions and limit distractions during use.

How do store app installs and updates work?

The Meta device operating system handles installs and updates. Unfortunately, this means you can't see download progress like you normally can with other types of apps on ManageXR. To control how and when app updates take place, you can edit your App Update Settings on Meta Horizon managed services.

Do I need to re-upload the CSV whenever I save more apps on HMS?

Yes. In order to port newly saved store applications to ManageXR, you need to download your latest CSV of apps from HMS and upload it to ManageXR. View full instructions.

Can I use First Steps?

Yes. First Steps is available on the Horizon Managed App Store. To access First Steps:

  1. Go to Discover Apps on HMS

  2. Search First Steps

  3. Click Add to your apps

Then, follow these instructions to get it onto ManageXR.

Why are some apps missing from the Meta Managed App Store that I see on the consumer store?

The Meta Managed App Store offers a subset of the free apps available in the overall Meta Horizon consumer app store. Developers must opt-in to allowing distribution of their app via the Managed App Store.
