Does ManageXR Work With Quest Link?

ManageXR is built to support all Android-based standalone XR devices and requires the device to utilize its Android OS in order for admins to set up and control their device fleet. Quest Link is a feature offered for Meta devices that allows you to connect your device to a PC and use the PC's rendering capabilities (GPU, processor, memory, etc.) instead of the device's onboard resources—essentially turning it into a tethered PCVR headset that bypasses its native Android functionality. Because of this, Quest Link does not work when ManageXR Kiosk Mode or Home Screen is active. You can still use Quest Link and launch apps in the following scenarios:

Legacy Meta Quest devices

Quest Link is compatible with Legacy Meta Quest devices. First, you must add Quest Link to ManageXR as an external app (the package name for Quest Link as an external app is com.oculus.xrstreamingclient.) and temporarily Disable the ManageXR Kiosk Mode/Home Screen.

Air Link is not currently compatible with ManageXR.

Meta Horizon Enrolled Devices

Quest Link will have different functionality depending on the "Mode" assigned to a device. Learn more about Meta Horizon device modes.

  • Shared Mode—Quest Link is incompatible with devices enrolled through Quest For Business / Meta Horizon Management Systems with Shared Mode as the Device Mode.

  • Individual Mode—Quest Link is compatible through the same setup as Legacy Meta Devices when the Device Mode is set to Individual Mode.
