Meta Quest users can create passcodes to prevent unauthorized use of a device and its apps, for an added layer of security. Passcodes must be 4-16 characters and it’s advised to safely store these passcodes because they cannot be recovered. Device passcodes can be created in-headset, as well as from the Meta Horizon mobile app. You can follow the instructions below to enable and disable passcodes for your Meta device.
How to Create a Passcode
Device passcodes can be created from inside the headset, as well as from the Meta Horizon mobile app.
Device Passcode
If you enable device passcodes, the screen will lock in moments of inactivity to prevent device use. You will need to power on the device or awaken it from sleep mode, enter the passcode, and then you will be able to access the ManageXR Home Screen or Kiosk App device experience.
In-headset:
Go to Settings in the native Meta menus
Select Security
Create a passcode
Meta Horizon mobile app
Select your Meta Avatar icon
Click the three line Menu in the top right
Tap Devices and select your headset
Select Headset settings.
Select Passcode
Tap Create Passcode, enter a 4-16 digit passcode, then select Continue.
Re-enter the same passcode, then select Continue to confirm.
Your headset needs to be nearby and connected to your phone via Bluetooth while accessing Headset Settings in the Meta Horizon app.
Remove a Passcode
The disabling of device passcodes can only be done from inside the headset.
Go to Settings in the native Meta menus
Select Security
Next to Passcode, select Remove
Select Remove passcode.
Enter your passcode, then select Continue to confirm
If you factory reset your headset, your passcode will be erased. You'll need to
create a passcode again.
