To enroll a Meta Quest device on ManageXR, you will need a Meta Horizon managed services account (formerly known as Quest for Business). This guide will walk you through linking your ManageXR organization to your Meta Horizon managed services (MHMS) account, and then enrolling your device on ManageXR through MHMS. If you’re not familiar with Meta Horizon managed services and don’t yet have an account, you can learn more here.
Adjust Meta enrollment settings on ManageXR
The first step in linking your ManageXR organization and your Meta Horizon managed services account is to set up your Meta enrollment settings on ManageXR and download your Organization Enrollment Token.
Navigate to Devices in the ManageXR web console and select Add Device
Confirm your enrollment settings on ManageXR. These settings define which configuration is applied to your device when it is first enrolled (don’t worry, you can always change your device’s configuration after it has been enrolled). You have two options:
Default Configuration: This will automatically apply a specific configuration to all new Meta Quest devices that you enroll.
Configuration Code: This will allow you to enter a Configuration Code in-headset to assign a configuration at enrollment time. This method is best if you are simultaneously enrolling devices to different configurations. You can learn how to find a list of your ManageXR configuration codes here.
Download your Organization Enrollment Token from ManageXR (you’ll use this file to link your ManageXR organization to your Meta Horizon managed services account in the next step).
Create a third-party MDM enrollment for ManageXR on Meta Horizon managed services
Now that you have set up your Meta enrollment settings and downloaded your Organization Enrollment Token, it’s time to link your ManageXR organization to your Meta Horizon managed services account. This will allow you to enroll devices into ManageXR via Meta Horizon managed services.

Device Enrollment
Once you have set up the ManageXR Third-Party MDM enrollment in your Meta Horizon managed services account, you’re all set to enroll your devices! Any device that you enroll through the typical MHMS enrollment process will now be automatically enrolled in ManageXR.
Video Tutorial
Grab your VR device and start the out-of-box setup process. You must use a new or factory reset Meta device. This process varies depending on the device type and firmware version, but should include:
Selecting your preferred language
Adjusting your headset to fit comfortably and see clearly
Connecting to a WiFi network
Watch a safety video
Allowing firmware updates to install. This usually takes around 5 minutes on a strong network connection.
When setting up multiple devices simultaneously on the same network, it’s possible your estimated time is drastically increased, or the firmware download will fail altogether. If this is the case, reduce the number of devices you’re setting up, or connect them to separate provisioning networks.
After the device downloads the firmware update, it will restart.
After the update, you’ll reach a screen that instructs you to pair the device. On this screen, you’ll select the Connect to your organization button underneath “Headset managed by your organization?”
In some cases, devices will need to finish downloading updates after the reboot before you can select the Connect to your organization button. Check for a message in the top left “Your headset is up to date” before moving on.
After selecting Connect to your organization, you’ll be instructed to log into your Meta Horizon managed services account from a computer. Click continue in your headset until you receive a temporary device code. You’ll need this code in the next step.
It’s time to go to your computer to enroll this device onto Meta Horizon managed services. If you set ManageXR as the default enrollment method in MHMS, navigate to work.meta.com/device and enter the temporary device code from the previous step.
If ManageXR is not the default enrollment on Meta Horizon managed services, then an admin must enroll the device while signed into Meta Horizon managed services.
Navigate to work.meta.com/device_management/all_devices
Click Enroll Devices.
Select a ManageXR third-party enrollment method.
Enter your temporary device code.
Click Enroll device.
If you enter your device code, and nothing happens. Click the back arrow in the headset and select the “Continue” button to generate a new code.
Put on your VR headset and continue through a few device management information screens
Once you’ve stepped through the Meta screens, ManageXR will open and begin registering your device.
If your Meta enrollment settings in ManageXR are set to use a default configuration, your device will begin registering on its own:
If your Meta enrollment settings in ManageXR are set to use a Configuration Code, you will be prompted to enter your configuration code. (You can learn how to find a list of your ManageXR configuration codes here.)
Follow in-headset screens to grant two required device permissions.
This screen will appear to confirm that the device has successfully been enrolled with ManageXR.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully enrolled your device with Meta Horizon managed services and registered it with ManageXR.
After enrolling your device, you will encounter popups you must click through as part of Meta’s new user experience flow. More information about this flow can be found in our documentation about Meta Horizon managed services’ device modes.

After enrolling your device in ManageXR through Meta Horizon managed services, you can use the ManageXR Device Setup Tool to push content to your device over the wire using Push Configuration Update. The Push Configuration Update action allows you to download a large update (e.g., several applications) to your computer and then load them over the wire onto your VR devices. This may be useful if you are provisioning multiple devices over limited wifi.
