A configuration defines the content, files, and settings that are distributed to a target device, as well as the end-user experience. Once created, you can apply a configuration to as many devices as you like. Any changes made to the content or settings within a configuration will automatically apply to all devices in that configuration.
Create a Configuration
The ManageXR web console enables you to manage various elements of your configuration to create curated end-user experiences. Whether building a new configuration or making edits to an existing one, the first thing you’ll need is content to deploy from your VR Content library. These are the types of content that can be added to a configuration:
Follow the instructions below to deploy content and fully customize your configuration(s):
Navigate to the Configurations tab
Enter a name and select the plus sign to create a new configuration.
Hover over content and select the Deploy button for apps, videos, WebXR links, files, and WiFi networks you'd like to add to the configuration
Click Save Changes.
Deploy Specific App Versions
If you’ve uploaded multiple versions of an app, you can select your desired version from the dropdown when deploying it to devices. More information about managing multiple versions of an app can be found here.
When launching WebXR links on Quest devices, you can choose between the Meta Quest Browser and the Wolvic Browser. We recommend using the Wolvic Browser for a more stable WebXR experience.

Assign Configuration to Devices
Now that you’ve set up a configuration, it’s time to save it and assign it to your devices. You can apply configurations individually and in bulk from the web console.
Individual Device
Navigate to the Devices tab
Select a device from the device list
Select a configuration from the drop-down menu on the device detail page.
Click Save Changes.
Multiple Devices
Navigate to the Devices tab.
Select the devices to which you'd like a configuration.
Click the Configuration button.
Choose the configuration to deploy to the selected devices.
Select Yes in the popup window to confirm the new configuration for the selected devices.
If you make changes to a configuration, online devices will immediately begin to sync according to those configuration updates. If a device isn't online, it will sync with the deployed configuration as soon as it comes online.
Device Experience
The Device Experience tab is where you can tailor the end-user interface. Four device experiences are available: ManageXR Home Screen, Kiosk App, Kiosk Video, and Default Device Menu.
Let's review what these device experiences entail:
ManageXR Home Screen
Lock a device to your approved apps, videos, and WebXR links. You can further organize and customize your Home Screen with various features that ManageXR offers. Learn how to customize your Home Screen.
Kiosk App
Select a single app to launch immediately after turning on or rebooting a device. Your device will be locked to this app and unable to access native device menus.
Kiosk Video
Select a single video to launch immediately after turning on or rebooting a device. Your device will be locked to this app and unable to access native device menus. Learn how to kiosk a video in your VR content library.
Default Device Menu
Access your apps and files from the device's default menu. With this setting, you will see apps installed through the default system and the apps deployed via MangageXR.
The Shortcut Menu gives end-users quick access to key settings and can be used in tandem with these device experience: Home Screen, Kiosk App and Kiosk Video.
Device Settings
In addition to deploying content and selecting your Device Experience, you can also apply specific device settings to all or some of the devices within a configuration.
Firmware Updates
Firmware upgrades can impact the functionality of your devices and apps. Major firmware upgrades have occasionally created critical issues for some apps, leading to interruptions in app/device use. Because of this, we highly recommend using our firmware policies to manage these updates.
On Pico devices, you can target a specific PUI firmware version on your configuration.
On Meta Quest devices, you can disable or postpone automatic firmware updates on your configuration until you've validated the experience on a subset of your devices.
Content Update Schedule
Setting content schedules allows you to control when devices download and install configuration updates. Content schedules are particularly beneficial in environments where you’d like to optimize your network’s performance by updating after business hours.
Duplicate Configuration
Navigate to the Configurations tab.
Click the plus sign of the configuration you want to duplicate.
Press Enter on your keyboard to confirm the duplication.
